Project

Google Tag Manager Plugin

Resolution

Hi Theo:

The code you are entering is for Google Remarketing correct?  What the Google Tag Manager plugin is looking for is your Google Tag Manager Container ID.  The Container ID always starts with 'GTM-'.  For you to setup remarketing ou should follow these steps:

1) Setup Google Tag Manager - see this link for more information: http://www.google.com/tagmanager/get-started.html

2) Put the Container Number in the Google Tag Manager Plugin.

3) Create a Remarketing Tag in Google Tag Manager and publish.

4) Test with Tag Assistant (like you did in your screen shot) You should now have a working remarketing tag!

Ευχαριστώ for using the plugin!

Best - Jay

Issue Summary

Option to enable datalayer doesn't seem to add the dataLayer script

Issue Detail

Hi guys, Thanks for fixing the issue with the misplacement of the snippet. I've noticed something else, when I activate the option the add the datalayer, I'm expecting your plugin to fully handle this for me. Sure enough the datalayer is mentioned in the corresponding snippet that's loaded, so it looks like it's active but as far as I'm aware. an empty datalayer container also has to be added, before the container snippet. So something like: In my experience this needs to be added just after opening < head>. This allows dataLayer declarations to be dynamically added to the head by other components such as rsForms. I couldn't push anything to the dataLayer until I had manually done this which is likely to scupper many trying to use this. Thanks for the great work though, very useful plugin. Cheers Gary

Project

Google Tag Manager Plugin

Resolution

Hi Gary:

Just within your script tag for the Google Tag Manager code you should see something like this:

window.dataLayer = window.dataLayer || [];

In version 0.0.9 this line of code has been placed just after the <head> tag to resolve this issue.

All the Best,

Jay

Resolution

Hi Jake:

To use Google Remarketing with Google Tag Manager you need to set them up this way:

  1. Login to Google AdWords and obtain your Conversion ID and Conversion Label
  2. Login to Google Tag Manger and create a new Tag
    1. Select AdWords for your Product and AdWords Remarketing for your Tag Type
    2. Enter the Conversion ID and Conversion Label
    3. Hit Continue and then select which pages you want to see this on (All Pages or Some Pages)
    4. Create the Tag and Publish the Container
  3. Connect to your website and check that the tag is working (You can use Google Tag Assistant or similar tool to check).

This link shows you how to find the Conversion ID and Conversion Label - https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106960?hl=en&ref_topic=3002579.

Let me know how this works out for you.

Google Tag Manager Plugin

Resolution

Hi Tanis:

This is a unique bug - related to your website.  You actually have 10 - "<body>" tags - this is an error.  A well formed HTML page should only have a single "<body>" tag.  We will provide an update that only places GTM with the first "<body>" tag - but you should also review your template index page and possibly modules you are placing on the page as those are the likely places the extra body tags are being placed.

For example if you have an HTML module - do not include the "<body>" tag (or <head> and <html> tags as well).

Please download version 0.0.11 which has the update for your website.

Thanks,

Jay

Hi Lisa:

The issue is that you have two <body> tags on your website.  Luckily version 0.0.11 only places the Google Tag Manager code on the first <body> tag.

Please download and install this version - that should solve this issue.

Let me know when it is updated and we'll check it for you!

Best,

Jay

Confirmed that version 0.0.11 corrected this issue.

Multiple installations of Google Tag Manager detected

Issue Detail

Hi, First off, thanks for making this plugin! I've had a look at your solved issues, and also on Google to see if I can find a fix for this, but my skills are too limited. I want to set up some basic click tracking using GTM, which is all set up fine, but each click is registering twice. So I installed Google's Tag Assistant Chrome Extension, and apparently I've got GTM firing twice. I think it might be some javascript loading GTM again at some point. I've had a fiddle with your plugin settings, but nothing changed. I'm sure it's not your plugin, and it's something I've done, but I just can't work it out. I thought I'd ask in case you can help me out, as you seem very helpful! My site is: https://www.silvermansound.com/ Any advice you could give me is very much appreciated!! =)

Hi Shane:

The GTM code is being duplicated - there appears to be an <iframe> that is in your existing code.  Can you delete this line: <iframe style="display: none; visibility: hidden;" src="//www.googletagmanager.com/ns.html?id=GTM-TTVRXB" width="0" height="0"></iframe>

That should solve the problem!  Let me know if it does (or does not).

Thanks,

Jay

This error in Google Tag Assistant (a great tool for initial debugging) was due to interaction of the GTM plugin and other plugins on the website.  Running Google Tag Manager Plugin last resolved the issue.

Hi Daniel:

Our plugin sets up Google Tag Manager on your website - which it has done.

The next step is to add the tags into your Google Tag Manager Container. A few tutorials will help you with this: https://www.google.com/analytics/tag-manager/get-started/#?modal_active=none

and an online course:

https://analyticsacademy.withgoogle.com/course/5

If you prefer we can setup Google Tag Manager as well also offer basic setup of Google Tag Manager as well - contact us at sales@trionia.com if you would this assistance.

Instructions not accurate?

Issue Detail

I downloaded and installed the hikashop gtm plugin. It does not look like the photos on your instruction page. I do not have tabs for detailed info or basic setup, it only looks like basic setup with Google Ecoommerce Affiliate and it is unclear to me what I am supposed to put in that box.

GTM for HikaShop

Resolution

Hi Jason:

We updated the documentation images - the basic tab and details are all on a single screen now.  So you can 'Enable' the plugin and add any affiliate information on this same screen.

The Affiliate information is put into Google Analytics for reporting.  For now this can only be a single value - but in future versions we are going to enable a method for updating from Hika Shop as a configurable value.

Hope that helps!

Best,

Jay

Project

Google Tag Manager Plugin

Resolution

Hello Gabriele:

The HikaShop GTM uses the GTM plugin for tracking.  It will not work with any other analytics plugins - in particular plugins that do not use GTM.

The technical reason is that HikaShop GTM sets up dataLayer values that are passed to and used within Google Tag Manager.  See this blog article for more information - http://blog.trionia.com/2016/03/11/setting-up-a-google-analytics-ecommerce-tag-in-google-tag-manager/.

Hi there, Trying to get the Tag Manager plugin working but Googles Tag Assistant doesn't show it working. It says "Invalid or missing account ID" I can confirm the account ID is correct so I don't know why it isn't working. When I look at the source code, the tool seems to be putting the two snippets in the correct locations, however the snippets are different to those shown in Google Tag Manager: Any thoughts on why this might be the case or how to get it working? I have included the two code sections from both the tool and GTM below so you can see how they differ. Kind Regards, James Tool - Head Section
